Canby Man Killed in Sandy Shooting; Suspect in Custody

Police have identified 27-year-old Canby resident Zachary Richard Saylor as the victim in a fatal shooting on Bluff Road in Sandy Thursday.

Sandy police officers responded to the location at approximately 5:15 p.m., after receiving multiple calls from witnesses reporting that they saw a disturbance, followed by multiple shots fired.

A Sandy man, 26-year-old Joseph David Paul Anaya, was taken into custody without incident. Saylor was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police said another person drove away from the scene, but they were soon tracked down and detained. That person, whom police have not identified, is currently in custody.

Detectives are continued their investigation and will release more information as it becomes available.

The Sandy Police Department was assisted at the scene by personnel from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office, Clackamas County District Attorney’s Office, Clackamas County Major Crimes Team and Oregon State Police.

Bluff Road was closed between Bell Street and Green Mountain Street during the incident, but it has since reopened.
