County Deputies Injured in Crash Following Pursuit

Two Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office deputies were transported by ambulance with non-life-threatening injuries Thursday night after a crash that followed a high-speed pursuit of a man suspected of careless driving and other crimes.

The deputies had just deployed a successful Precision Immobilization Technique, or PIT maneuver, when they lost control of their cruiser and crashed on Southeast 82nd Avenue in urban northwest Clackamas County, closing down the street between Southeast Sunnybrook and Highway 224.

The suspect was not hurt in the collision and was taken into custody. According to the CCSO, the deputies were hospitalized for minor injuries.

One other unrelated vehicle was also involved in the crash, and the single occupant of that vehicle was not injured.

Oregon State Police is investigating the crash with the assistance of the Criminal Reconstruction and Forensic Technicians. Clackamas Fire personnel also responded to the crash scene.
