Police Release Sketches of Teens Involved in Assault of Transgender Person at Wilsonville Park

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in identifying three teenagers who allegedly assaulted a transgender 20-year-old and stole their phone at Boones Ferry Park in Wilsonville Tuesday night.

Composite sketches of two of the teens were released to the public Thursday afternoon. All three are described as white males in their late teens.

According to the victim’s account, which Clackamas County police shared in a press release earlier this week, they were walking to the river when they passed the three teenagers — one of whom yelled out a transgender slur that the victim ignored.

The teens later approached the victim to ask “if they had any alcohol,” police said. In a separate incident approximately 45 minutes later, the three again approached, and one suspect reportedly punched them in the face at least twice, and possibly three times.

The victim managed to get to the river and swim away but got stuck in the mud when they tried to make it back to shore. The teens had stolen the victim’s iPhone 8, and they were unable to call 911.

“The victim told deputies they had been yelling for help for a couple of hours and were extremely cold,” police said. “Deputies were concerned about hypothermia and called for medical to respond to check out the victim, who also had injuries and abrasions to the face, arms and legs.”

After assessment by AMR paramedics, the victim declined a hospital visit and was given a ride home by a Wilsonville deputy. The victim is now cooperating with detectives, who are seeking tips from the public.

Anyone who can help identify the suspects in this assault and robbery is urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Tip Line by phone at 503-723-4949 or using the online email form. Please reference CCSO Case No. 20-014116.
