Portland Man Shot at Silver Falls State Park

A 23-year-old Portland man was hospitalized after suffering a gunshot wound Wednesday night at the north trailhead parking lot of Silver Falls State Park, police have reported.

The victim was identified as Billy Gardner, of Portland. He was treated at Salem Hospital and released, according to Oregon State Police.

The shooting occurred between approximately 10 and 11:15 p.m. Wednesday. Investigators believe the suspect or suspects also stole Gardner’s silver 2016 Ford Fusion, Oregon license no. 383 MAX, and left the area northbound on Highway 214.

OSP was assisted by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Silverton Police Department, Drakes Crossing Fire Department and Woodburn Ambulance.
