Sheriff’s Offices Arrests Portland Teen for Stealing Over $300 in Cigarettes from Rite Aid

The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office arrested a Portland 18-year-old this morning after he was found in possession of $324 worth of cigarettes, allegedly stolen from a Rite Aid in Clackamas.

The store, located at 12002 S.E. Sunnyside Road, had been broken into at approximately 1:15 a.m. Monday, March 23. Deputies arrived in the area and found a broken window in the front of the Rite Aid.

Deputies located a suspect, Tyler James Borkgren, behind the Safeway next door. Borkgren was taken into custody. Police say the stolen cigarettes in his possession.

A similar burglary had been committed at that same Rite Aid on Feb. 12, 2020, Borkgren reportedly confessed to being involved with that crime, as well. During the Feb. 12 burglary, Borkgren allegedly broke a window and entered the store several times, stealing cigarettes and alcohol before fleeing in an unknown direction.

Borkgren was booked on two counts of second-degree burglary.
