Update: Woodburn Man Injured in SUV vs. Dump Truck Collision on Hubbard Cutoff Road

More information has been made available in last week’s reported serious injury crash involving an SUV and dump truck on the Hubbard Cutoff Road, also known as Highway 551, near Aurora State Airport.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:22 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 24. According to the preliminary investigation, it was caused by 54-year-old Scott Harrison Vosburg, of Woodburn, who crossed into the opposite lane and struck a Kenworth dump truck “nearly head-on.”

It took Aurora firefighters 32 minutes to extract Vosburg, after which he was transported to Legacy Emanuel Medical Center by Life Flight helicopter. It was later determined that Vosburg’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The driver of the Kenworth, 60-year-old William Edward Norman, was transported to Salem Hospital for evaluation after complaining of pain.

Vosburg’s GMC Yukon was nearly destroyed, and the Kenworth also sustained heavy damage. Both were towed from the scene. Some of the debris impacted a northbound Mercedes-Benz S 500, causing minor damage.

The highway was closed for several hours while Oregon State Police investigated. Hazmat also responded for spilled diesel fuel.

After interviews with the involved drivers, OSP declined to issue citations in the case, according to a spokesman.
