County Sets Meet and Greet for Public Affairs Director Candidates

Clackamas County has named four candidates as finalists in their search for a new County Public and Government Affairs Director. The county is seeking to replace former comms head Gary Schmidt, who was promoted to County Administrator earlier this year.

The Public and Government Affairs Director is responsible for the management and strategy for public communications, outreach and engagement as well as the county’s state and federal legislative initiatives.

The four finalists are:

  • Timothy Heider, Interim Director of Public and Government Affairs, Clackamas County.
  • Sue Hildick, President, Hildick Strategies.
  • Philip Schmidt, Communications and Government Affairs Consultant.
  • Joshua Thomas, Senior Director of Communications, Oregon Dairy Products Commission.
  • Members of the public are invited to meet the finalists and offer feedback during a public reception Monday, May 20, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Development Services Building in Oregon City. The county is looking to hire a new Public and Government Affairs Director by early-June with an anticipated starting date of July 1.
