Canby High Grad Named All-Northwest Conference 2nd Team for Defensive Play at Linfield College

Once a cat, always a cat. Tony Kraus, Canby native and former star for the Canby Cougars football team, has been named to the All-Northwest Conference second team for his defensive play at Linfield College in McMinnville, home of the Wildcats.

Kraus, a senior defensive end, helped the Wildcats allow the fewest yards (273.9) and points per game (15.8) of all NWC squads, along with fellow All-Conference honorees cornerback Chris Adamo, end Ray Thomas and safety Dusten Ramsayer-Burdett.

Kraus was an All-Northwest Conference first teamer last year, after leading the Wildcats in sacks (8.0). This season, he accumulated a career high 26 tackles, including six tackles for a loss, and four sacks — third-most on the team.

At Canby High, he was a three-time all-Three Rivers League first-teamer at defensive end and twice as a tight end. He was also named all-state on both sides of the ball, including a first-team award as a tight end.
