Canby Cougar Wrestlers Named Tournament Champions at Larry Owings Invitational

The Canby High School wrestling team had an impressive showing at the Larry Owings Invitational last week. The Cougs hosted the annual tournament named after the legendary national champ from Canby High, and were named tournament champions to boot.

The tournament included top wrestlers from Beaverton, Churchill, Gresham, Lakeridge, Lincoln, Sprague, Springfield, West Salem and Woodburn, as well as Hudson’s Bay and Mountain View in Washington.

Key performances from the Canby wrestling team included Kaden Boyd, 1st place at 170; Asher Chaffee, 2nd place 126; Dom Netter, 2nd place at 138; Ethan Ensrud, 3rd place at 113; Tyler Hensley, 3rd place at 160; Zack Markell, 4th place at 152; Juan Vargas, 4th place at 160; Levi Goode, 4th place at 182; Ty Ewers, 5th place at 120; Ryan Kellar, 6th place at 126, and Eric Lopez, 6th place at 195.

Next up will be the Bend Invite on Jan. 4.
