Canby Swimmers Show Well in First Dual Against LO

Canby High School had their first dual meet for the season Thursday, Dec. 3 at Lake Oswego. Lake Oswego came out the winner for both men (by a score of 91-79) and women (116-54). This is not to say Canby didn’t have some good swims, because they did.

For the Canby women, Mairen Chard lead the way swimming to first place in the 100 fly (1:02.05) and the 100 back (1:01.11). Canby women also had Alora Robbins with third in the 200 free and 500 free, Erin Meredith third in the 200 individual medly and 100 breaststroke , Lauryn Crum third in the 50 free and Halana Crispin third in the 100 free. 

On the men’s side, the Canby boys won the 200 medley relay 1:49.81 with Hunter DeRisio, Bjorn Laitinen, Conner DeRisio and Thomas Diggles. They also won the 400 free relay 3:55.59 with Jordan Spencer, Bjorn Laitinen, Hunter DeRisio and Thomas Diggles.

Also for the Canby men, Hunter DeRisio was first in the 100 back and second in the 100 free. Conner DeRisio finished second in the 200 free and 100 fly, Jordan Spencer was second in the 200 individual medley and third in the 100 breaststroke, Bjorn Laitinen was third in the 100 fly and second in the 100 breaststroke, Thomas Diggles finished second in the 50 free, Thijs Pepperkamp finished third in the 50 free, Andrew Gautsche was third in the 500 free, and Jack Hayhurst swam to second in the 100 back.

Up next for the Cougar swimmers will be Tigard at Canby Swim Center on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 4 p.m.
