Thrilling Playoff Appearances by Canby Baseball and Softball Teams

The Canby baseball and softball teams were long shots in their first round playoff matches, and although the final results went to the favorites, our Cougars certainly fought hard enough to make them sweat.

The baseball team led sixth seeded Roseburg, 1-0, until the bottom of the sixth, when the Indians’ bats got hot and they scored three straight. It was an outburst the Cougs weren’t able to match in the final inning, falling 3-1.

In softball, the Cougs were matched up against fifth ranked Jesuit, and they trailed, 5-2, until a three run homer in the bottom of the sixth by senior Parker Allhands.
